Hi all, this morning I found that I have a leak coming from the rubber boot between the tranny and the swingarm. Its a few drops, but I know it shouldnot leak.Any ideas what is goin on
-
Have you tried tightening the two clamps yet ?
-
No,I did not think of that.I will give it a try tonight.
-
Give the rubber boot a good looking over, especially with the desert heat you have there, it speeds up the weather hardening and leads to cracking of the rubber .
-
Bob, the rubber looks pretty good.I rode the bike for 700 miles since I got it last year.I will check the again.
-
Pray it's just the clamps.
Changing the boot requires removing the U-joint bolts, removing the swing arm pivot bolts, pulling back the swing arm, blah, blah, blah...
At least you'll get to practice and/or invent some new profanity while you work the boot and those two danged clamps back into proper position.[smiley=furious3.gif]
Or do as I did... if there is a crack or hole causing the leak, just rotate the boot to put the leaky spot on top. Rode for a year before fixing it correctly.

Thanks Monte. If its cracked I will rotate it.Anyway this bike is my Sunday ride so I hope it will give me a year or two:)

Its a pain in the neck job and I just fixed my leak after weeks of trying different locations for the hose clamp screw. It finally worked with the screw on the side.
-
I tight the clamps this morning and its look like the leak is gone. Will see in a few days.
Fermin my clamps screws are on the side also
