Shock choice...can someone help me with replacements? -1984 LS- I am replacing the originals and I am open to any opinions. I am hoping to find good replacements (factory stock?) that are readily available here in Canada.
Thank you in advance,
mk

Here is a thread I started.

Good link there, Rob! That thread has some good info on shocks.

I ended up replying to Steve in it! From January!

I had a pair of Betor shockers from Motobins on the back of the Bimbo which were a big improvement on the OE shocks.

That's okay, Rob, as I've been in no rush to get into new shocks yet anyway. What I really hope to do is get you, John, Ms. or Mr. Buck, some more knowledgable soul here in the group to ride Blue this summer and give me their impressions of the suspension overall.
I'd mentioned before that I've been told the forks were way stiff, as if there may be spacers inside, but I have no other R65s to compare with. I also seriously hesitate attempting to open the front end myself, with limited knowledge of the innards, and don't want to be chasing springs, washers, and bolts over a 100 foot radius if it all explodes upon disassembly.
So, maybe this summer sometime, at the Running of the Urals, or the Gathering of the Clans, I can swap bikes with someone for a spell and figure out what's what, suspension-wise, and go from there... :-?

Sounds fine with me, Steve. (getting the calendar out, again...)

Still happy with my Hagons

I can't really give a comparo as I have never been on an R65 with stock shocks! Our '80 has Konis and Barbara's '84 has Progressive Suspension brand. Both work well but I have always had a hard time noticing shock "quality" on the rear. I guess over the years I have just worn shocks out and my riding style "morphed" to compensate with the slow degradation of the shocks so I never notice. :P
