Hope you guys have enjoyed this beautiful Memorial Day weekend.
Have covered a lot more ground on R65LS now that she's home.
I believe I've got the terminal wires on the correct poles. On the second to the last position going from "off" to "on" I hear a definitive "Click"
When I try the horn or lights I get Zippo. I pulled the connectors off the new coil and I see the current in a fleeting second when I turn off the power. Also when I connect the voltmeter to the Wherle connectors I don't get a reading.
I'm encouraged to hear a click! I'm getting closer to getting this old bike running!

So with the key in either the Park or On position, you have no lights or horn whatsoever? Have you checked your fuses and fuse connections?
Do you have a multimeter so that you can test for voltage on the terminals on the ignition switch?

Ken, don't you have a European 5 position switch ?
I vaguely remember you posting about getting the correct wires on the ignition switch terminals .
Did you ever get the information from anyone here ?

From one of this forums members, NHMAF . . . this is what I got.
My Haynes manual once again proves inadequate - it shows only 4 terminals on the ignition switch with the following wire colors attached
Terminal 30 Red
Terminal 58 Grey
Terminal 15 Green
Terminal 56 Green w/ violet(?) or blue chaser and (UK only) yellow
Being a little over my head in electrical, I'm enlisting a friend to help walk through the systems to make sure we've made sure to plug everything in okay. Fuses aren't broken but they are the old style but they should still be okay - but I'll test for continuity with my voltmeter - that's a good suggestion.
I'll keep you posted. Am getting VERY close to seeing the fruits.

I've also checked on my ignition switch, and I only have the 4 wire colors indicated. There are (5) terminals on the switch, and it is the inner one in the row of (4) terminals, that is next to the notch on the edge of the switch body which is left open/unconnected to any wire. The green wire w/black stripe is left hanging, and if memory serves, I think that is a switched +12V wire, to be used for connecting to voltmeters, etc.
Ken also has a 'mystery wire' that not sure were it goes - or whether it is part of the factory wiring or not.

Corrosion seems to be the culprit here Bike sat outside a few MN winters - just got in from wire wheeling the ends of the fuses - there was no continuity but there is now. Still no go but a lot of corrosion on the various electrical connection points.
Will take some time & patience but we'll get this figured out.
