I noticed some oil leaking in between the Final drive and the rear wheel.
This is giving me some worries since I have just replaced the Oil seal on the final drive last september, I also did use some gasket maker before sealing it up properly. I was leaking pints back then; the rear brake and wheel would be drenched in oil and oil would come out of the drain hole for the rear brake.
It's definitely gear oil because of the smell, could be possible that there could be another source of that leak but I don't know where else to look.

Common problem with these bikes, the o-rings on the rear brake camshaft, are most likely the cause .

Cured my gear oil leak! Got really tired of having 80/90 wt gear oil on the rear tire. Whoopeeee!
Pull the rear wheel and pop off the brake shoes. Remove the brake arm from the brake cam shaft and slide the shaft out. Some R65s have two (2) O-rings and others have four (4). My '81 is a deuce while the '83 is a quad. There is also a felt washer between the final drive's exterior case and the brake arm.
Order extra O-rings and a couple felts. I believe I paid $0.50 each for the O-rings. And good ol' BenchMark took a credit card for a less than $5.00 charge. Guy I talked with said "no biggie we'll you sell whatever you need". I liker that kinda service and attitude.
Ring Vech at http://www.benchmarkworks.com/ He's the man on these odd sized O-rings.
