if i unscrew the beancan and take it off will i need to rest the points again , or if i carefully remove it without moving any parts then replace it will it be ok.

You shouldn't upset the point gap, but you need to put a scribe line from the engine case, across one of the ears where the screws go, to assure you get the timing correct .

The points are not affected by removing the Bean can but you might want to check the points gap while the bean can is off because it's so much easier this way.
It's so fiddly to do with bean can in place that I always remove the bean can to check the points and just accept that I have to set the timing again when I put it back. In fact if you adjust the gap then the timing is going to change anyway so it's easier and really no more work to take the bean can off.
If you have done this before I guess you already discovered that if you set the gap with the end bearing plate off (because access is so much better) the gap will change quite a bit when the end plate is replaced.

well i took off beancan and lubed spring through the little oval hole and they seem to move freely, but i replaced the beancan and went for a ride , first 5 mins just great and then back to higher idle shortly after so i take it its the weights that are sticky as i have been through everything else
check valves
timing
carbs , new diapharms
wants the best way to do this , can the hole thing come out of the beancan in one piece or is it in bit as usual ,

I would only strip the bean can as a last resort when you are 100% certain it's not carb settings. Been there done that and it wasn't the bean can. It's also a very expensive item if you should accidentally damage something.

i rang motobins today a got electronic ignition , ive been toying with the idea and that will also help solve that problem i hope , i cant get my head around whats going on with the bike and going to start a fresh at the weekend .
has anyone done electronic ignition change as i have no idea what to do yet. any help with pics etc would great thanks

The Omega is a great electronic replacement. not only no more bean can but no more ICU!
Got one on my R75/6 - can't fit it on the R65 because I installed the EnduraLast alternator.

I've chatted up this possibility to several local AirHeads. Have a pair of new advance springs on the bench. Just waiting for a nasty weekend as it's really nice riding weather for the next few months.
BTW, the springs can be replaced without disassembling the bean can. Although you do have to remove it from the bike!

What, through the inspection hole?
That might take the patience of a saint, I would imagine.
You don't have to remove the advance plate from the can to replace the springs.
