Can anyone explain why my carbs leak. Here is what happens. The bike has sat all week long with the fuel shut off at the tap . I turn the fuel on , start the engine and after a few minutes it starts leaking. I shut off the engine and fuel, take the bowl cover loose drop the bowl slightly spilling some fuel and put it back on :-[and open the tap start the engine and its fine. Is the float sticking open and overfilling or what?

Could be a sticking float needle or even "older" floats that are sinking thereby allowing more fuel to flow into the bowl than is necessary. Not an uncommon issue with the Bings.

Thanks Monte, I just came back from a ride and as soon as I arrived at my friends house and turned sharp left to be facing out of her driveway it started leaking. so I did the procedure and it stopped. When I got home I made a hard left lean into my drive way and it started too leak. so I assume the float must be sticking or not floating . After my yard work I'll take it off and investigate. I knew you would be the one to answer. thanks for your knowledge. :)

No, no, no! I just parrot what I've learned on this site and others plus my own screw ups and mistakes. Thanks for the kind words all the same. ;)
