Hey guys, finally going to mount the motor tomorrow. I'm wondering if there's pictorials for the clutch rod assembly and throwout components on the 81 R65 anyone may have. Still trying to figure out these newer 80's machines. I have a pretty firm idea but want to make sure. From what I gather, the lower right tranny bolt and clutch rod should be inserted into the tranny before attachment to the motor. Is this correct? I only want to do this once. Not sure about the throwout assembly and shims, cups, etc.
Happy-happy-joy-joy!

fermin,
I have very few arguments that way. A victim of over-zealousness.

Yes, do assemble the rod and throwout assembly into the transmission before putting transmission back. I also put a bit of lightweight grease on the bearing to keep things happy until some gearbox oil can get back there - or you could soak the bearing in gearbox oil and also smear some gearbox oil on the rod before sliding it back into the transmission (especially if you've drained/rebuilt the transmission and there isn't any oil in it yet).

nhmaf - thanks for the help. I was going to lightly lube the end of the rod with moly and lightly oil the throwout bearing and cup with hypoid, as you mention.
