I've got the file OK and will have a go at reducing it tomorrow.

I've reduced the file to 2.14MB but the quality has suffered again so anyone with the 79 - 80 model might be better off asking Lou or me to e-mail it to you.

I'm using the full version Of Adobe Acrobat and unfortunately there is no option to go for something closer to 3.0MB in an attempt to maximise the quality.

Thanks Lou

I've never seen a copy of the original manual for my bike and there are some detail differences. For example with the points ignition you are happily advised to balance the carbs using the pull the ignition leads off method (without earthing !). The valve clearances are given as .004" and .006" which changed to .002" and .008" in a later manual and I think most of us now use .004" and .008" or maybe a touch bigger.   All interesting historical stuff.
