Hi, Can anyone point me in the right direction: I’m attempting to remove the ‘fairing’ from my 1984 r65ls. I have stopped at trouble with removing the turn signals.

I did almost as good, I moved your question to the tech section.
Have you tried the search feature on here? I seem to recall one of our regulars, Sue, writing up the whole process in detail.
She will see this thread soon enough, anyway. Take care of the plastic attachment points on the black side pieces, is mostly what I know.
There is a threaded ring around the ignition switch that has to be removed before the dash panel will go anywhere.
Take your time.
I have never worked on one, myself. Just repeating what I have learned.

I'm going to be removing the RT fairing on Bimbo2 once I get back from my holidays (a week in the Canary Islands sun for me and the missus next week ). If getting its off for the first time anything like the one fitted on the Bimbo then it should be fairly straight forwards.
The main thing to do is work through the problem slowly, and take care not to damage the Tupperware parts when you unfasten them. If your planning on putting it back on at some point I would also have a camera handy and photograph the individual mounts so you know what goes where next time. I also like to use a couple of empty plastic tubs (butter pots are good) and a some money bags. If you label the money bags then you will always know which fasteners go with which bracket or panel.

The part that I really need to remove is the lower part, not the typically black cowling which surounds the instruments. I believe this lower part can be separated?? I am reluctant to force the turn signals loose. I'll check out the search feature.

The turn signal "stalks" are in two pieces with a clamping arrangement. You must undo the clamp, unhook the wires, and pull the turn signal out. Not my crudely drawn white arrow pointing to this clamp...

I did remove the two screws from the clamp and tried to spread it apart. There does not seem to be a split or hinge on the bottom of these clamps. I didn't want to force them. Thanks for your photo and I'll try again.
