The crossover blew out last Sunday took until last night to locate an exhaust wrench and a prayer to get it apart, not done in over 15 years as far as I know, I was very lucky and thanks goes to this forum for the heat it up information. I measured the old crossover and the crossover flange and armed with this info went to the scrap pile. Found a black powder coated satellite dish button hook the right size ID and thicker wall and removed 10 inches of that. Put it all together this morning and was able to stall the engine with no crossover clamp of any kind I should have used 11 inches of pipe but I can live with it and am back on the road cost NADA. OH yah NEVERSIEZED everything all is good when the smoke cleared.
It was made to fix on the road with farmer materials and farmer tools wasn't it otherwise they'd have given it full electronics and EFI as well as oil in the head and charged a lot more for it, no offense to the guys with the newer bikes it's just you can't fix them with a nail file and a rock on the road. I seem to remember making a front crossover for the R65RS out of a chunk of 1" electrical conduit - perfect fit IIRC...

Seems like not to long ago someone mentioned they made a XO out of a piece from a vacuum cleaner.
