Title: no blinkers

Been chasing a fault for the last few days. Blinkers won't work.
Now initially i was having an intermittent switch problem with the left blinkers. So I purchased a new switchgear. And when the blinkers failed completely assumed the switch was at fault. Change switch over, still no blinker.
Try and work out which circuit diagram is mine as nothing matches qute right. I have hazard switch in dash, and none of the circuits indicates this. BMW, or Churchill.

Problem was no 12 volts to the relay, ever.

Worked ut my hazard switch had failed. Problem is with no circuits to show wiring.... And wires to relay do not match wiring diagrams.  

Mine has a brown (Earth) a Green/Yellow(switched), and a Blue/Yellow (12Volts through hazard).

The blue yellow is not listed anywhere, nor the hazard switching circuits.

If someone has a wiring diag that came with a hazard kit, I'd love a look. Maybe PO installed a kit and changed wiring to suit themselves??

this was very frustrating, and now I have to decide if I'll bother with a hazard switch, or rig it to work without and install a blank.

For now I've put a jumper on the hazard switch plug and that makes me roadworthy with working blinkers.

I think Rob Valdez can help you out with a wiring schematic for the hazard flasher circuit .

Rob also made a posting back about 3-4 months ago, about a hazard flasher installation, that didn't require the additional wiring relay and switch .

There also is a diode in the wiring for the hazard flasher kit, I wonder if by chance the diode failed 'open' ?

The diode I'm talking about should be under the tank, it has a plastic guard around it maybe 4 cm or so long and 1 cm wide, with two push on type terminals, possibly wrapped in black cloth tape .

If the diode has failed, you can open it up, and replace the diode with a common type from an electronics store, I think a 1N4001, is a common diode readily available for low cost .

Diode was one of the first things I checked.

I wondered if it was something simple like a 1N4001,
I will definitely store that information away in my memroy bank for later use, the 1N4001 sell here for around 50c. I asked munich motorcycles how much they sell the diode  for  .....  $34, but he told me BMW used to sell them for over $50.

Here's the BMW part number for the hazard switch : 61-31-1-358-268 .

Cost is $83.25US .
