Title: Easter Eggs, 80 R65,  and Questions

I'll remember Easter 2007 as the year I fist rode my R65,  I have a few (simple) questions.  My beemer stalls when going from high revs to idle. Increase the Idle speed?  Also it backfires a bit.  All in all considering the bike has not been ridden for 10 years all is good.  The carbi's have been re kitted and front brakes replaced.  Love the feeling of 650cc between the legs.

You may want to check the torque of the 6 nuts that hold each head on, then check the valve clearance on a cold engine. Then check the synchronization of the carbs. Too tight of valves are a common cause of not wanting to idle. If you get the problem of the engine stays at high rpm's after a high speed ride, this is usually caused by synching the carbs on an engine that's not fully up to operating temperature.

If this thing has sat that long you really need to do as much of a major service as you are able to do so you have a maintenance baseline.  Probably a complete tuneup will solve this issue as the sequence is (if I remember right):

1.  Adjust/check valves.  Check them and if they still have the correct clearance why adjust them!?
2.  Set timing - 3500 rpm at the "Z" mark.
3.  New plugs or regap old plugs.
4.  Tweak carbs
