Hi All,
I am puzzled, I bought a new gear lever for my bike and it came with a needle roller bearing already in place but no bush. I notice both Motobins (UK) and Munich Motorcycles (Aus) list a bush for a gear lever from an '84 airhead (as my R65LS is), but Real OEM says there is no bush just the needle bearing.
What are other people's experience in this area?
Best to all,
Paul

I believe there were two different types, one had a plain bushing, and then the part was changed to a needle bearing .
Haven't had mine apart for awhile, the pivot bolt rides either on the needle bearing, or the plain bushing .

My 1981 R65 had a worn sloppy bush for the shifter bearing. I had a local machine shop replace it with a closer tolerance replica. Better now, but the pivot bolt could stand replacing, too.

Are you referring to the cork washers, about 1/4" thick, next to the ball joints? Mine are starting to fall apart and I wondered what to replace them with.

I don't think he is refering to the cork washers on the ball joints of the adjustable linkage - but - I made new washers for mine out of mouse mat foam and they look very neat.
I have a small plastic adjustable circle cutter with a blade that works a treat to make these.
I think it was Monte who found a supply of free mouse mats at his post office?

Although they are another gub'ment screw up -rather than the USPS- I found free (My personal favorite four-letter F-word) mouse pads, plastic daily med dispensers, ball-point pens, etc at the local Social Security office.
