Title: Header Pipe Guard
Post by: Melena on December 28, 2009, 07:03:19 PM
I know someone at some point (maybe years ago in one of the other forums?) mentioned they were putting guards over their pipes so they didn't melt their boots onto the pipes.

I just get all the gunk cleaned up and then when I ride again there are the marks again.  Is there some after market part that would work to keep the heels from hitting  the pipe?

It seems this is a common problem so I'm sure there must be something out there other than a ritzy German beer can.   ;D

The only OEM exhaust guards I've seen for BMW's, only covered the curved part of the header pipes, they didn't go far enough back to prevent boot marks .

And they look like mid-60's big block Corvette side pipe guards as well!

Thanks Rob!

I do appreciate the fast response on that.  I basically just wanted to know if there was such a thing.  Now I know there is.  But I've decided with that price that I don't need them right now.

I'm being picky about where I'm spending my money, especially right now.  I've decided that what I really need is a new windscreen.  So many choices.   I really like the Rifle Superbike Fairing, but that is a bit costly.  I have to decide if the little S-fairing that is on the bike is good enough and maybe just get a new windscreen for it with a lip to lift the wind more.

Decisions, decisions.   :-/

Well, since money is an issue, the screen would be more practical, and the fairing is already mounted!
Me, personally, I've yet to find the windscreen that I could live behind for very long.

I know I have seen smaller shields similar to those, new, and for not much money; but I can't find them for the life of me.  When I do, I'll let you know, Melena!
