Just wondering if any knows how many litres or whatever is the capacity of our BMW older CLASSIC sidecases? Called classic cases in Bob's BMW catalogue. Those are the ones with the BMW written out in a plastic rectangular piece on the side of the case along with a red reflector.
I would like to know because they fit my stuff and the Triumph needs a similar size then.
BTW I did see on the net those same cases being used on a Triumph Bonneville...older one mind you. I should take a close look and maybe use LRB's cases after finding proper racks. Now I guess that just might irritate the wee bike??? No peace in our time?

Sue I measured the BMW cases on my bike. These measurements are approcimate because there are all kinds of indentations etc in these cases:
11 1/2" deep, 13" high, 18"long.

Hi Sue
If you mean this style of pannier I have an old brochure which says the capacity is 1.16 cu ft or close to 33 Litres.

If you need a relatively inexpensive option and don't mind going for "soft" luggage, I've been pretty satisfied with my Nelson-Rigg SB900 bags that I use on tillie all the time - carried all my stuff to the Tennessee rally with no problem and things stayed dry. N-R doesn't sell the SB900 model anymore, but there "new" model replacement for it is the CL850. Capacity-wise it is close, I think, to the BMW classic bags, but perhaps a little less - they do however, have more "give" to them than the hardshell BMW cases.
