Title: Is this a good place to Post my R65 Project?
Post by: Red_Hen on November 09, 2009, 09:41:31 AM
The project resumes - Engine rebuilt, tranny rebuilt, frame painted and all the gunk & grime clean.  I need a good condition exhaust nut and new throttle & choke cables & handgrips - just in case anyone has some sitting around.

I've got one other concern - I wasn't watching close when my friend re-installed the rocker arms - I want to re-check the needle bearings before starting (a long ways off). Is there any rhyme & method for re-installing? If I'm missing some, where do I get?

I'll keep adding to the post as I go further down the line.

Ken in MN *How do I get my Jpegs to load?  They're small enough?

Ken,
I previously replied to your post regarding the exhaust nut, never heard back from you. I have a used spare in functional condition, the threads are not perfect but a good 50% are there for an adequate bite I believe. Worth a try since I will not be needing it.  It's yours for the asking. Contact me off-list and I can get it to you if you desire.

If you're talking about re-installing the individual needles, in the bearing shell, just get something like petroleum jelly, and put some in the metal shell, and that should hold the needles in place .

If you lose some of the needles, I'm afraid, that you need to purchase a complete bearing assembly .
