Hi Folks,
I've hit my first problem.
I decided to pull the heads, took off the rocker cover, removed the rocker assembly, undid the 2 bolts holding the head on and attempted to remove the head. Nothing moved.
So I followed the instructions and gently tapped around the head. Still no movement. So I then gripped the head each side and tried to move the head that way.
To my horror, the cylinder was loose against the engine block!
The entire thing moves when I try and turn it!
I have not used any real force and can only assume that this cylinder is somehow loose, the other side is solid.
Have I done something wrong or is there a problem here?
I would appreciate some help please.
Thanks

Have you tried using a soft face hammer to tap the head ?
It may be just a case of some sealant on the cylinder head gasket .
If tapping doesn't get the job done , put all of the nuts back on both cylinder heads, tighten the ones outside of the rocker arm area on the cylinder head that won't loosen up, but leave the other four that hold down the rocker arms loose, install the spark plug back in that cylinder head, use the starter to rotate the engine, and the pressure build up in the cylinder, should loosen up the head from the cylinder .

You are a flippin genius!!!!!!!!!!
It worked!
I got them both off following your advice.
Thank you so much.
You have made my weekend, I'll get some pics up showing the condition of the cylinder heads and pistons poss on monday.
Thanks again Bob.

Glad it worked, if you run into a problem like this again, and can't use the starter, use compressed air into the spark plug hole .
I've used the accessories from a compression tester, the part that threads into the cylinder head, then connect an air hose to the quick disconnect fitting on the tool, and pressurize the cylinder, just make sure that if the piston moves, it won't cause any problems .
