Title: Whine
Post by: Crossrodes on September 29, 2009, 08:09:29 AM
I started noticing this some time ago.  I don't know if it's normal or not.  I hear a whine when I ride the bike.  If I pull the clutch in while moving the whine disappears.  Any thoughts??

My first guess is transmission gear whine, I notice it on my R65, after riding the oilhead for a couple of weeks, without swaping over to the R65 .

Mine is most noticeable durng aceleration, not so much at constant speed .

But with my hearing loss, due to working around jet aircraft for the last 33 years, it could be there and I just can't pick it up over the wind and engine noise .

Mine has done it since new .

My whine disappeared when I started leaving the wife at home.

I have to reply (reluctantly because I don't want to spoil the fun for you guys) on behalf of the wives here.  My wife is a brilliant pillion. For whatever reason she had not ridden pillion with me for 20 years and then a few years back she got on and we went straight off for 80 miles. No trouble at all lean't into the bends and everything, didn't fall off once and I don't even have a grab rail.

Actually she's sitting behind me asking what I'm laughing at.
Oh just a comment someone made.

She's actually a lovely girl who puts up with a lot of crap from her husband. ;)

On my first date with the lovely Mrs. Phorqs (who rides her own R1100R) I asked her if she ever rode two up.  She thought for a moment and said "No, but I'll let you ride bitch with me if you want to."  She had me from then on, and NO, I've never ridden bitch with her! [smiley=beerchug.gif]
