I ordered a rebuil;d kit for my brake m.c. & upon inpection there may be some corrosion inside the cylinder. Can or should I try to hone or clean it, & with what?
thanks, Bill Conquest

I've heard of owners that have tried something like crocus cloth, an extremely fine grit, on a wooden dowel .
Some have had success, others, the damage was to deep to get out .
You can give it a try, and the worst case scenario is it won't work, and you will need to replace it .
I've seen 'whetstone' type brake hones, I don't know how good it will work on aluminum .

2000 grit wet and dry paper on a timber dowel in a a circular motion worked for me, I've done it twice over the years and fitted new m/c piston kits. Just be carefull not to leave any longitudinal marks that the fluid could escape past.
