Title: Squeaky Shock

About two years ago I bought some Hagon Shocks.  

I first noticed it last year but didn't get around to checking it out until today.  The upper stainless cover (shroud, cup???) on the shock is being rubbed by the spring as the shock compresses and de-compresses.  Has anyone ever run into this and fixed it.  I tried fixing it but can't get the clearance I need between the spring and the cover.

You'll need a spring compressor, similar to what is used to compress springs on a McPherson strut equipped 4 wheeler .

I don't understand Bob.  If I compress the spring I am assuming I can remove the cup and then what?  How would I get the clearance I need?  The spring is rubbing on the side of the shroud/cup.

You may be able to adjust and un-squeak the position of the spring shroud with tension off the spring.

The shroud may have moved a tiny bit when you ran over those rumble strips making the inside pass on Lorenzo at the Indy MotoGP.  ::)

My thought was to get the spring out of the way, then possibly get a thin piece of rubber, or other insulating material between the spring and the top cap or cover .
