Ive got a very slight leak on the master cylinder reservoir between the plastic sight and metal (its the round one) theres a rubber seal that dont seem to be holding any suggestions.

The round reservoir type master cylinders, to the best of my knowledge, have the reservoir bonded to the metal body of the master cylinder, not meant to be separated .

I do know that a couple folks have succeeded in effecting some sort of repair of those involving carefuly (and lucky) separation of the plastic reservoir from the base, and possibly using some sort of sealant. But, my understanding of those round jobs is like Bob's, they aren't really meant to be serviced, just replaced, if leaking where you describe.
Although it means changing out other bits, including the lever perch, the rectangular type are rebuildable/serviceable, and I think, cheaper to replace than buying another round one?

I am in agreement with both of the previous replies.
And the nice thing about the rectangular, is you can put on the G/S brushguards really easy, if you want to.
But the rectangular reservoir perch was designed for only one throttle cable (to a splitter) which is a bummer, but I seem to remember reading of folks that have converted to a double cable out of the perch? Like our 1st Gens?
Did Sue in Canada look into that?

I am not entirely sure that they couldn't be made to work with the 2-cable hookups.. at least it *appears* that there is some extra wiggle room around my 1 single cable coming out of there. I thought that perhaps judicious use of a dremel tool it may be possible to open things up to accomodate 2 cable ends (assuming one can get the internal connection part on the cam/chain to work). But, I don't know for certain. Sue did look into this, but I think that ultimately she end up replacing the internals of the throttle grip and staying with the 1 cable-into-splitter arrangement. Perhaps she will chime in, soon.

My round reservoir master cylinder had a dual cable operation. But it also had a very slight weep where you mention.
When I dropped a disc off the front, going to a single disc setup, I replaced it with a rectagular reservoir, which I simply modified to take a dual pull throttle.
I transfered the parts across from the round reservior master cyclinder to the square reservior, with a very minor bit of drilling. Easy peasy.

The resevoir pops off the metal mounting and is held in place by two small lugs i was hopeing to strip it this winter and refit with a suitable sealant? must be something out there good for brakefluid.
