I have a hook wrench BMW Heyco mfg. Part # 71 11 1 237 858. Any idea what it is to be used on? It has 40/42 written on it. Thanks. Ya see I am still trying to get ahold of a adjusting hook wrench for my Koni shocks. I miss the adjusting handle on our OEM shocks!

I have one of these in my tool box from a long forgotten bike and I can't remember what it's for. Motobins shows a hook wrench for the steering bearings. http://www.motobins.co.uk/displayfinal.php?q=hook+wrench&go=GO
The Max BMW microfiche has the part number but doesn't have a picture. My vote is for the steering head bearings. Anyone else know? :-/

The hook part is for adjusting the steering head bearing on the early big twins. They also had threaded caps on the top of the fork legs that had two holes in them. That is what the two pins on the handle fit.

Bet that will fit my '75 R90/6. It has the two holes in top of the fork tubes and I've been wondering how to get that off. Sue, if you don't have a use for that tool I'll take it off of your hands. Send me a PM and Let's Make A Deal!

Hmm...hey Bengt...so is everyone saying that there is really no use for that hook wrench on LRB??? If so let's deal and any chance you have a Koni fork wrench???
-
To the best of my knowledge (no guarantee...), that is correct, there is no "official" use of that tool on your R65.
-
Sue, let me check it out. I remember I used to run Koni's back in my motocross days and I think that's where the tool came from. I'll send you a PM.

Rob nailed it, I had one in my R60/5 toolkit. Seems one of the "tits" busted off the first time I tried using it - I wasn't impressed...
