Would anyone happen to know where BMW might list any variations from the Bing carb manual. I'm pretty sure the previous owner had not rejetted the carbs (I'm not even sure he ever cleaned the bike, never mind the carbs).
The bike is a 79 R65 US model, with the 64/32/203-204 carbs. I received the bike completely stock(pipes, air filter, etc), but the needle jet is a 2.68 and the Bing manual calls for a 2.66. I know it's a minor detail, but I would like to start at the factory setting, and go from there.
Also, how are the jet needle's removed from the slides? It looks like it has a pressed in retaining washer on top of the clip that I'm not sure how to get out.

To remove the needle from the slide, place the slide on a hard surface, then take a piece of hardwood, put it on the needle, and tap on the piece of wood, the needle and retainer should start moving in the slide .

Alternatively....The needle has a series of grooves if you hold it in one hand and twist the needle through 90deg it will slide down to the next setting repeat this till it comes out remember which groove it was in (there are 5 i think) re set your new needle at the same point as a start for point for tuning there are good diagrams ect here
