Title: Low Oil pressure sensor switch
Post by: suecanada on August 09, 2009, 02:11:44 PM
As I have a slow oil leak out of the end of the low oil sensor switch I will replace it. I have the part number as 61 31 1 243 414. Price $13.42. Just wondered if that switch is interchangeable with any other switches used on cars or other oil laden engines?

I assume I just empty the engine oil which needs doing after the trip to TN anyway, then just screw in the new one???

I should look it up I know...just being lazy on a very hot day.

There's been a few discussions on interchangeable parts, I think I remember that the oil pressure switches used on the air cooled VW's were a match .

You don't need to drain the oil, as the switch is in the oil galleries in the engine, and you should only get at most, a few ounces of oil, so a drain pan is all you need to catch what ever comes out .

The bug switch is the wrong thread.  A switch from a mid 80ss BMW car works...
