Title: valve guides

hi all again,i am am in the process of fitting new exhaust valve guides on my 81 r65 and i am just waiting for them from motorworks.the old one have come out quite easily with a bit of gentle heat.has anyone got any good tips on reffiting the new ones,i was going to heat the head and put the guides in the freezer overnight.any ideas on a suitable drift so as not to damage them,thank peter

The heat and freeze method should work good and maybe tap 'em in with a plastic or rawhide mallet.

A valve guide drift fits down inside the guide to prevent damage....they came in various sizes.If you know someone with a lathe they could turn one up easy enough.But they should tap in no problem.

hi thanks for the advice guys,
Amplifier i am replacing them because when checking the tappets there was a fair amount of play side to side on the exhaust valve guide and this could lead eventually to a dropped valve,also she was a bit smokey on start up,cheers
 ps any tips on posting pics anyone
