Hey, I'm nearing the end of my 82 LS restoration project. My plan is to have a nice ridable LS not a museum piece. I just picked up a great set of used black mufflers and pipes. They are not rusted at all, but the finish is black faded and worn in some spots. Does anybody have a suggestion for repainting. I need it to be DIY, as Im working on a budget.
Thanks

I have used Eastwood's Satin Black Exhaust Coating with good results.

I gave mine a light sanding and careful cleaning and used Dupli-Color high temp flat black. I also let them bake in the desert sun for about a week before I put everything back on. The result is good and the paint has held up for a year so far. You might try the satin black Justin used for a more authentic finish.

I used POR-15's hi temp engine paint called "Black Velvet" - it is somewhat flatter in color than the satin black paint that Justin used. Expensive, but you'll probably get several complete exhaust system coatings our of a pint. I think that it will require repainting every few years to avoid rust..
