I haven't converted a bike per se. However benfits are no points and therefore less moving parts so theory being less servicing and more reliable spark.

There are kits available such as the OMEGA which use the alternator to afix a sensor, and associated wiring to convert to electronic ignition.  There are also a thread going on at the moment of barry building his own

That said there is also know cases where people have converted from electronic ignition to points...

Are you having troubles with your points set up?

I have a 1979 R65 and am still running points.  They seem to be fine and I have no great issue with them.

All is well at 110,000 miles.

I would not worry about changing unless you have some definate issue to resolve.  But thats me....Lazy.

If you have some spare cash, I could find a use for it :D

If you do have a specific issue to resolve, like a sticking advance mechanism, then there are several kits on the market.

Watch out, prices vary wildly, so do your homework.

Boyer are one of the local suppliers - Can be sourced from Motobins, I believe.
