Title: Speedo repair
Post by: Mumford on March 09, 2007, 12:58:39 PM
Any suggestions on where to turn to get my speedometer calibrated, and my odometer repaired? I'm reading 10-20% high by my best guess, and I'd appreciate having an odometer I could trust.
Thanks.

Mum, look on thru the Technical Q&A section, as there are several other discussions of speedos scattered about. Check pages 3 & 5 specifically.

The standard repair shops are Palo Alto in Cali or Bob's BMW in Maryland, although several smaller outfit are also referenced. The odometer can be fixed, as can needle bounce, but your speedo's always gonna read a little high; nature of the beast and all... ::)

At the risk of sounding crass - put on a larger tire if you can?   ;)

As long as your odometer numbers are not running wild, it is probably accurate, even though the speedometer needle reads fast.

At least, I verified this with mile-markers along the interstate highway.
I even noticed that (here in Indiana) the white reflective posts are spaced at 1/10 of a mile.
