Recently purchased a 79. Does anyone have any recommendations for:
1. Throttle Lock/Cruise control
2. Feasibly priced, reliable, simply installed windshield
btw...I'm buying from Toronto, Canada.

I have a Slipstreamer S-08 on one of my R100s and like it a lot and they're under $100. I can also hook you up with a cruise-control gizmo, PM or e-mail me.

A legit cruise control, like Justin's design, is probably the way to go but... Have you looked under the twist grip on your bike?
Unless it has fallen out or a PO removed it, there should be a spring tensioned, nylon-tipped, thumb screw. Look for an empty hole with threads.
Originally spec'd as a way to hold the throttle in position during timing and tune chores, the part is occasionally used by Beemer riders as a cruise control. Set it snug enough to hold the throttle but loose enough to close the throttle when needed. Think safety.

I went to REALOEM.com, and did a search for the '79 model year R65, and for the right hand grip assembly, they don't show the plug, or the bolt and spring for the OEM throttle lock.
I'm just wondering if the drilled and tapped hole for the throttle lock is even there.

It is on a 1980...

found the thumbscrew on my '79. still in place.
thanks montmil.
justin, can you email me the details on the gizmo?

I believe the cruise control (throttle lock) was a NEP. I put it on in 1981, works flawlessly. Screen is National Cycle Deflector... about $100.

+1 for National Cycle - can even get them from JC Whitney by mail order. Decide what size you want -
