Title: Bringing My R100 out of Mothballs
Post by: Justin B. on July 24, 2026, 10:56:09 PM
I finally got a chance to do some more work on my '81 RT the other day.  After peeing gas all over the driveway I pulled the carbs and found the left hand carb float needle was glued to it's bore!  Also, both floats were very dark and likely wouldn't float anymore.  I weighed a new float and found it to be 12 gm and the old floats were at 14 gm.  Glad I had bought some spare floats years ago!

After doing a quick and dirty "freshening (clean passages, new O-rings, floats, and gaskets) it no longer had an incontinence problem.  Being over 100 degrees outside it fired right up with no choke!  :)

Next is an oil change and flushing out the brakes and it should be ready to go for a spin around the block.  I also snagged a decent Clearview windshield, with vent, and installed that.  The old one was riddled with a network of tiny crack looking defects and very hard to see through
