Title: Extra final drive
Post by: Tiedie on September 30, 2025, 04:54:39 AM
Just purchased a extra final drive for my R65ls. It's a 32/9 like the original one. The plan is to rebuild and have just in case I need it. Found it on the bay store.

Good luck with it.  That's about the only thing I have not attempted

I have a worn 1979 R65 final drive that needs rebuilding. Do you know anyone I can pay to do it? I have too much drive train lash.

For what it is worth they are not difficult.

I avoided doing final drives for a long time until the R75  FD fittedto my 860 needed rehab. I was surprised at how straightforward they are.

Sorry for the late reply I just saw this I'm in WNC the guy I used for all my upgrades and updating is here too. DM me if your in need but as @Tony Smith said it not too difficult as a matter of fact Boxer 2 Valve has a video on how to do it. I haven't attempted it but if you have a hot air gut and patience it shouldn't be too hard. They sell a repair kit for bearings and seals and gaskets.
