Title: US National Election
Post by: Bob_Roller on October 11, 2024, 04:15:59 PM
There is a national election the second week of November in the US .
I vote by mail in ballot due to getting sent out of town for work on short notice .
Well I filled out the ballot, it was three feet long about a meter in length both sides .
With the sorry excuses of candidates on the ballot, I put name as a write in candidate on over 30 races .
If I win, I'll be one busy m effer !!!!!! :beerchug:

I feel you pain.  Our Federal election for State Senators has in the past had up to 72 candidates and although you can just number one candidate only to use their preferences, I always place a number in each box.  You just have to love democracy in action.

Meanwhile, observing US elections from a distance I can only have a chuckle as I see how corrupt and unbalanced the US system is.  I'm so glad we do not have that system here in Oz.

This Saturday, here in the sunny state of Queensland we have a state election.  As we don't have an Upper House, it is simple and I only had to choose from seven candidates.  I am registered to have postal votes sent out and prefer that than attending the ballot box.  I am busy all day Saturday anyway in a shooting comp, so that works well.  The Polls so far show the current government being served an arse kicking, so it should be back to a conservative government after a long history of lefty inefficiency and corruption.

The only good thing I will say about the elections this year is that in 1 week, they will be over, I hope.
With our luck, we'll probably have another version of Bush v Gore contested vote situation, and that was bad enough back then.

I deleted my post in this thread. I've got strong feelings about one candidate, and it's nothing to do with me in the UK  :-\

Just don't take your eye off the ball in Ukraine guys. The man took an inch (Crimea), got away with that, then went for the mile. He hasn't got that, but he will (and much more) if he thinks he can get away with it. Our conglomerate in the EU is too slow and diverse vs one mind with absolute power and control.

There is an old adage that ultimately democracies elect the governments they deserve.

Quite what the USA did to deserve Trump evades me though.
