Title: Fuel System Issues
Post by: Bob_Roller on July 03, 2024, 05:35:01 PM
Got out of work early today, four day holiday weekend .
Went to replace fuel lines, fuel tap was in the off position, but fuel was still running out .
Drained the fuel tank and disassemble d the fuel tap and found grooves cut in the rubber discs allowing fuel to run out .
Swapped the fuel tap with one from the parts bike .
I removed the fuel tank cap to drain the tank and found the rubber seal on cap fell into three pieces .
Took the seal off of the cap on the parts bike .
A parts bike is quite helpful on occasion .

Yes, but it is temporary fix as the part you use is already worn out  ;D You just have time to order the replacement, and as it is a 4 days leave, plenty of time....

I replaced the original fuel cap seal with a large thick O ring I happened to have as a temporary measure.  It worked perfectly and is still doing it's temporary job 10 years later.

Yes,I lose some service life on some of these parts due to the heat here in Phoenix .
I've started storing rubber and plastic spare parts in my house.
I had both garage doors replaced in March I had insulated doors installed so far, seems to have helped with keeping the temperature in the garage in the mid 90's F, with an outside temperature 118F, 48 C like I had yesterday.

Have you considered painting the roof white (and have the external walls covered with a vine plant ? ) It is very very effective to reduce the heath absorbed by buildings.
Just my 2 ยข....

Hi Bob, think you need a lucky rabbits foot rather than a parts bike  :o

I have these issues at work, a problem, consult, fix. Another problem, advise and fix. Another problem, tell-off and fix. Another problem, write them a letter, meet with them and fix. Another problem, letter, meet, meet with their boss, keep it sweet, fix. Another problem, send the boss a bill, ask them to re-assess if it is a quality issue internally, fix if possible. Another problem, 'friendly' call to their boss. Another problem, it must be luck, send rabbits feet and best wishes for the future (if they have any). Another problem, dispatch Hexenbeast.

What you have is a clusterfu{k.   ;D

Hope it goes soon!  :)
