I bought some leftovers from a parting out a pre '80 R100RS and one of the items baffles me. It looks as if it fits in the hole for the oilplug as the banjobolt belonging to it has the same turns and diameter as the oilplug, but apart from that I cannot find out anything about it. It is not in the parts list of the RS on OEMBMW.

It looks suspiciously like a Volvo 5 bar oil pressure sender...

You might be right, it is a VDO product and somewhere at the bottom it says 2,4 BAR.

Not sure why it was in with Beemer parts.  I would think a 2.4 bar would be pegged all the time...  Probably from some other European jalopy, maybe a non-turbo 240...

Could be that the guy I bought the parts from had it installed on his RS - and in that case, where?
