My R65LS has a gap between the bottom edge of the dashboard and tachometer. The speedometer side is ok. Anyone have a good approach to fix this? Do I need to get in there and bend the gauge mount or is it just age and plastic?

I'd try loosening the fairings and see if you can get back in alignment .

Thanks for that suggestion. I started loosening up what I could and found the gauge mountings have more adjustment than I expected. What worked was just snugging up the gauge mounting bolts enough so I could still adjust with a little force. I then pushed the dash on and let them adjust flush. I removed the little trim plate between the gauges which then gave me just enough room to wiggle in an open end wrench and tighten the gauge mounting nuts. All good now.
One thing I did discover is that my dash is missing all the little hooks that would normaly secure it along the sides to the fairing. It is just held by the tabs at front, the 2 grommets at the top sides, and the ignition key trim ring. I imagine those little hooks are prone to snap off and sometime in this bikes life a previous owner just sanded them down smooth. Should I worry about finding a way to repair these? I can't have the only R65LS missing these plastic bits.

Those tabs broke off decades ago !!
What I did, was to get some thin sheet metal drilled a hole and put it under the headlight bucket retaining bolts .
Usually about 6 0r 7 inches long then drilled a hole on each side of the upper black fairing, positioned the metal strap in line with the hole on the fairing drilled through the metal .
Put a tinnerman nutplate on the metal strap and then inserted a sheet metal screw in tinnerman nutplate .
So far no issues with it coming loose, if it does, put a small amount of rubber sealant on the tinnerman nutplate and put the screw through it .

You can find the tinnerman nut at a hardware store, or a home improvement store .
