Title: Trip Odometer Reset Button
Post by: Bob_Roller on June 16, 2022, 04:46:25 PM
I found a business here in the US that has replacement rubber buttons for the trip reset button on the glass face of the speedometer .

https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/product-p/speedobutton303.htm

I have a question, I have three speedometers that have the reset on the face of the indicator, but there is something else missing all I have is a small metal pin that is below the surface of the glass .
Anyone else have a fix for this ?

Bob,
On my counter, the pin protrude from the bezel. But the part you have found is not enough. On my counter, the rubber button has a screw traversing the glass and is locked under the glass with a screw.
I can't provide pictures because the meter is at a repair shop 600 km from me to be refurbished... My arm is not long enough to take a picture  ;-)
Have you checked the Siebenrock web site directly ?

I checked the Siebenrock site and no further parts of info available .
The missing part is shown on the Euro Motoelectric site, but it looks like it is no longer available .
I guess I need to come with a plan for this .

Bob,
The thread is old but maybe you can contact him ?

If my memory serves me right, there was another maker in the US which used a "plain" hexagonal nut to hold the rubber bit.
Can't find it for now.
Edit : At some point, Bob's BMW sold a kit to repair these buttons. The reference was RNR KIT (I noted it in case I needed it). Do not know if still avail, though....

Thanks for the info, that kit is no longer available .
It's stated that there is a nut on the inside of the glass, none of my speedometers has that or the screw not even visible inside the speedometer .
Got the parts yesterday, looks like I have a plastic rod that will fit into the button and I'll try a bit of clear sealant to secure the button to the glass .
I just want to prevent water from getting into the speedometer, if the trip odometer can be reset great but not necessary .

Bob, that is how I fixed the wife's reset.  I used the waterproof boot for a toggle-switch and fixed it with clear RTV.
