Title: Petcock
Post by: Dave S on April 06, 2022, 12:55:47 PM
I'm sure this has been discussed before but couldn't find anything in the search....
Would a 90deg. petcock fit my tank that has the standard straight-through? Like this -

I've added a fuel filter and thinking this would clean up the hose routing.

Hello,
Bored with the fuel line interfering when adding oil, and having to renew my straight petcock, I bought a new angled one.
It fits because it is made for the same BMW tank. It clears the fuel line routing. IT is not 100% original so will prevent you winning the show, but....
I did not measure the two straws coming out of it but I still have a decent reserve when I turn to Res. position....
So it is perfect for me.

That's what I thought.
Thanks!

To start with I have a question.

The Ven that internally the fuel tap has a fine gauze sleeve, or at least it should have, an external filter is redundant. So why fit one?

The straight and 90 degree performs are interchangeable, if my memory is correct the R65 introduced the 90 degree one for the very reason of making oil checking easier.
