Before you replace the diode board take a look at the solder on the top corners. After years of heat and vibration the connections were not up to snuff. Classic signs of failure, alternator light would not go out and battery would not charge. After a re solder on the offending areas it's back on the road and charging nicely. Enjoy. ::)
