Title: searching for seats
Post by: Matt Chapter on November 23, 2021, 03:46:13 PM
I'm trying to use the forum search feature to find seat replacements. When I click a search result, it just takes me to the forum topic list.

anybody know what's up with that, or got a suggestion for a monoshock seat?  I've found motorworks and siebenbroch so far

Hiya, is it just the vinyl, the foam, the base pan or all three that need replacement? nearly £400 for a seat is a bit heavy!

I got my recovered locally very reasonably and he modified the foam to suit me at the same time. Unless your foam is knackered throughout or the pan is rusted out, I'd do that. Or even get a genuine cover and let your local upholstery guy fit it professionally for you. I'd even look at a second-hand seat and get that recovered for about half the cost of that replacement seat.

If somebody had a good solid seat pan then they could make a plaster cast of it and make a few fiberglass copies.  Might launch a new business!

Justin, I'm pretty sure it's been done!  I think this one has a plastic base at half the price.

My cover and foam are done for, the seat pan is surface rusty but my preference is for the stock appearance.

I'm trying to remember different sites that have seats for sale, i thought there was a seat manufacturer that did only bmw seats or something, with a fairly rustic website but i can't find it.

What I did on the Junkyard Dawg was to fix all of the holes in the base pan then got a block of firm foam, glued it to the pan, and went to work with an electric carving knife.  After I got the shape the way I wanted it I used a MotoBins seat cover.  Turned out pretty good.
