Hello! 83 R65ls, had it about a week. Motorcycles all my life, only other BMW was a R60/5 (great bike). I'm a retired NC State LEO living near Asheville NC. Already had some great help from this forum, THANKS!

Welcome.  I'm sure you will enjoy the ride. 

Probably more similar to your old /5 than the modern R series.
