I had all the splines cleaned and lubed on my 1983 r65 LS at 45600 miles. The bike now has 51000 miles on it and I need to replace the back wheel with a used one. The question is, should I lube the splines on the replacement wheel. If so, what should I use?
TIA

I lube the wheel splines every time I have the wheel off. When did you lube the input shaft splines on the transmission. They recommend every 10000 miles.

I lube final drive to wheel splines every tire change and the transmission input about every 20K miles
I don't think 10K is necessary I am not even sure 20K is

Same as above here. For the grease, I use Molykote BR2 because it was once BMW spec and my dealer has it. Ask the industrial parts dealer (the guy which sells roller bearings, O-rings, hoses for the industry) and equivalent of the BR2 and you are good to go.

I tend agree, wheel splines every tyre change and transmission input splines once in a long while. I have 20,000 miles since doing them last and notice no problems with gear change quality.
