Hi all.. i’m trying to find a relay from my 1979 r65 that has a Bosch code:0332014406.. what would be the BMW number equivalent for this?
Thanks in advance
Bill

I think that might be a Guardian GR11 equivalent, or Hella #4RA003510081 ?
Which relay is it on your bike ? Sounds like the main power relay? That way, you can look it up on the MAX BMW fiche pages, starting here:

Do you know what it controls?
If you can tell me what it controls I can tell you what it should be
Or can you post a picture of the little schematic on the side of it

Remember BMW uses a different pin location than standard mini relays that you would find as NAPA
BMW uses the Type A everyone else uses Type B
And then there is the goofy starter relay with the built in diode :wall: But I don't think the 79 R65 uses it any way

Hi and thanks for the replies.. i’d send a picture but I’m not that computer savvy🤡
The relay has a diagram on the side that shows 86 85 87 and 30 on it.. I took this relay to NAPA auto and they matched it up .. but.. it killed my battery because the relay was hot all the time.. the original one (Bosch 0332014406)worked just fine ..I’m using it on my other bike which is identical to this one. It seems to be the one that enables the starter but the yellow starter relay that I have as a spare doesn’t go in there so I’m kind of lost😝
If anyone can make any sense out of this thanks a lot. I’ll try to figure out how to post a picture..

Ps.. it’s the third of 3 relays to the front of the row

Flip the relay over and look at the numbers next to the pins
You will notice that the one from NAPA has the numbers in different places than the one you took out (#30 and #86) That is why it killed your battery
Read my second post with the picture
You can use the one from NAPA but you will need to swap 2 of the terminals in the plug #30 and #86
Or you can get one made for BMW
It should be this one
It looks like all three relays in the early R65s are the same

Looks like this Hella Part number 4RA003510081 is the BMW style mini relay
You will notice that #30 and #86 are switched
