Took a run to the Look Out Cafe on the Oretga Highway ( Hwy 74 CA). The "Ortega " is about 40 miles of twisty road that connects Lake Elsinore, Ca to San Juan Capistrano Beach on the Pacific Ocean. Many many Bikes tests were done on this patch of asphalt as all the Bike magazines head quartered within 20 miles of the west end of the road.
Much too congested most of the time nowadays for any sport riding but it's nice to go up and have coffee and ogle all the Motorcycles going by and ones that stop for Breakfast or coffee.
Only one other Airhead and he was leaving as I rolled up. Today it was mostly Harley's and sport bikes. Interestingly two of the Hyabusa's were piloted by women. A Guzzi, 625 KTM, and a gaggle of oil headed GS types rounded it out. My little R65 is almost lost in the sea of shiny bikes.
Two RC51's roared by, such beautiful music they make. Great way to kill a Sunday morning, I'll do it again in the Spring.

I grew up in the Oceanside/San Diego area and I don't remember southern California being that bland/brown/dry. Is it my memory or is it the season?

Southern Ca is a desert to start with and we have had years of drought. Being here most of my life the dry and brown has become my normal. San Diego and Oceanside, being right on the Coast, it's a little greener than the surrounding countryside.
