No, I did not participate in the track activities, but I did have the oldest motorcycle in attendance by, at least, 30 years. And from the folks I saw, I may have been the oldest rider on or off the track. < sigh >
Twenty-five miles n'west of Denton you'll find Eagles Canyon Raceway. Motorcycles and sporty cars enjoy plenty of elevation changes throughout the eleven turn track. The day was warm and clear but the solid 25 mph wind outta the south made my westerly jaunt across the North Texas plains challenging. Rode my '78 R100S as a little shakedown in preparation for next weekend's ride to the Oklahoma Airheads Tech Day.

Noticed a BMW R1000RR in the pits and watched his strong track performance. The Motorrad hot rod leads a group through the esses.

Walking about, I noticed many rigs from the DFW Metromess and the southern parts of Texas -plus haulers from Oklahoma, Missouri and Illinois. Chatted with a rider as he waited for his Ducati's toasted rear Bridgestone to be replaced by the on-site tire vendor. A new Pirelli SuperCorsa will set him back close to four bills.

On the way home, stopped to admire the new mural celebrating Krum, Texas, and their wheat agribusiness that grew so massive the railroad added a stop in the small town.

The R100s looks great Monte. Have you been splashing out on some new shocks ?

Hola, Lou
Those are Works Performance rear shocks. Some of their bits also live inside the front forks. Those suspension mods, plus a San Jose billet aluminum top triple clamp and fork brace came with the bike when I acquired it from the estate of my late friend and co-worker. The 'S' also rolls on 18-inch alloy rims front and rear rather than the OEM 19-inch front and 18 rear.
Pretty sporty. One of the Track Day guys told me that I'd need to tape over the headlight and tail lens plus complete tech inspection before I could get out on the track. Bwahahaha... Not today, thank you.

When I first saw it I didn't think it was a R100, the wheels would explain that, it does look the business. My guess is your friend knew what he was doing.
