Title: Airheads at the Aerodrome
Post by: k_enn on June 20, 2010, 10:47:04 AM
Anyone from here going to the Airheads at the Aerodrome event in Rhinebeck, New York.  Weather permitting, I am planning on heading up there Saturday morning (June 26) and camping overnight that night.

Per the BMWMOA forum, the campground is full and they will not accommodate anyone who is not pre-registered for this event.

Did you pre-register?

$25 rally fee with a steak dinner!  Not bad!

No, I did not pre-register this year.  I did last year, but couldn't make it due to getting the flu two days before the event.  Due to my work, getting away on a weekend usually hit or miss.

It is a good deal.  But for me, I don't eat red meat so I am on my own for dinner in any event.  But the camping and comraderie is worth it.

It was a nice event, with a lot of old airheads (both bikes and people).  It was interesting -- at the Colors in the Catskill event last fall, my 1982 was one of the older bikes -- at Airheads at the Aerodrome, mine was one of the newest.   I did see one other R-65 -- a 1979 with I believe a R-80 tank in white with blue graphics.

The vintage airplane airshow at the aerodrome is still good.  I don't think they have changed the script and program in over 20 years, but they do change up the planes they use in the show.
