Title: Spring Has Sprung in Oregon,Finally !!
Post by: Bill_Cummins on June 07, 2010, 10:30:18 PM
Had a really great first ride of the season for myself and my riding partner ( who managed to obtain a dealer Demo R1200RT for the day). Out to Silver Creek Falls, then up to Detroit Lake and back home thru Sweet home & Albany. Not a drop of rain, great temps for riding.Easy little 210 mile day and that R1200 managed to keep up with my R65 for the whole trip. Really looking forward to Chief Joseph and of couse, Redmond !!

You pick some nice roads!  I love riding that highway that goes through Sweet Home.

The last time I tried to ride through Silver Falls Park I dumped my poor bike on the first icy corner.  I decided I could go around, as the roads were clear and dry everywhere else.  That was back in March, I think.

Rob, according to some people around here, that's true.  But they say similar stuff about Falls City.  Relating to, uh, how friendly kin are hereabouts.

I had forgotten all about Falls City beer!  Thanks for the trip!

Dang, and they seem to have started up again:

But not in MY Falls City.  Not that I'm a resident.  I just had to argue with Pacific Power to make them stop taking out a new tax that the city just passed, because I'm not in their city limits.  No taxation without representation!  And precious little, please, even with it!

Or something like that.

Now, now!  No bad talk about Sweet Home, Oregon.  My Grandma was born there.   ;)

My Great Grandma came across the plains to Oregon on one of the first trains during the first year the trains started coming across from St. Louis.  They were smart!  No covered wagon and walking for them.   ;D

I actually met her when I was about 7.  She died at age 94 I think.
