Hey Lou...checked out Sutton Bank on Wikipedia...beautiful area (see panoramic views on link). Were you on hwy A170? I'm getting ready to go for a ride today...53 degrees and sunny...not many good riding days left here in Ohio.

Yes the A170 to Helmsley some brilliant rides out that way just to the south theres a White Horse carved into the cliff face which you can see from 20 miles away on a good day. I fitted a camera mount on the headlamp bracket wich seemed to work well.
Sorry about the wobble on the hairpin my shoulder strap came off my backpack thought i was going to lose it for a moment or two.

Fun clip! I am intrigued by your camera mount. I'd never really considered doing it myself, but that looks easy.
Can you describe the mount?
The sound is great! No wind noise. On my camera, the microphone is on the top, at the left side. Yours?

Lou...that's funny...I did notice the wobble on the hairpin turn...it's okay. I was impressed with the quality of the film...wondered how you filmed it. I'm also impressed with how beautiful that area is...more beautiful than Cornwall and the south coast of England. Great post...thanks for the film.

Great clip Lou [smiley=thumbsup.gif].. Mate, thats one beauitful sounding R65. Now that you have the film making bug i hope you are planning to do some more 8-)...

Glad you all liked it,the camera is a Kodak C643 the microphone appears to be under the lens on the front at 7oclock.
The mount is just a piece of 1/8 plate welded to a 8mm bolt with a lock nut which fits into the headlamp mounting (this has a rubber washer on it which helps with vibration) it has a 6mm hole for the camera mount and i put a piece of foam under the camera for good measure.I use a 2Gb memory card for video which gives about 10 minutes i think??.
my willing assistant demonstrates the mount.

ps the A170 runs over to pickering then the 171 to Whitby

That curvy road that goes off to the south, (through the trees) right at the sharp left-hand bend - is that a public road?
Paved?
Looks like a good run for the camera!
-
Good video! I think that I like watching the "headlight view" video more than those made with a helmet camera.
-
Lou, your R65 actually sounds like a motorcycle and not a sewing machine. Well done video. My only comment though is that you were lucky to survive driving on the wrong side of the road and it's a good thing those cages saw you coming so they could move over. :D

That's a Forestry Commission unpaved goat track 4x4 or Trials bike territory as i get to the hairpin there's a black and white chevron sign that's the access next to that.

Very nice! I think that you are starting a new trend here.
BTW The area you live in is old Danish country, the Danelagen. (Sorry, the schoolmaster gets the better of me every time.)

We have alot of Dane /Viking history in our area one of my favourite places is Gunnerside near Richmond (N Yorks) the village is named after a Viking who started a settlement nice riding area.
Lou ^
(period thanks Rob)

I believe Ed is referring to your omission of a Period after "settlement", and before "nice riding area"... ;)
-
Oops! No, I don't play the catch the typos game, unless the person says something really funny inadvertently. I was just sort of joking about the idea of settling an area with really good riding roads a few centuries before motorcycles would be invented. Sorry it didn't work.
-
The vikings did not need motorcycles, they had small sturdy horses and really nice boats.
Not to mention axes and spears to harass the English and the Irish with :-)

Thanks for the film Lou. Keep up the good work!!!
Looks like a woggle in the lefthander where the suspension went from compression to extension (from brakes to throttle). I know it well...
You can minimize this by "Trail Braking" coming out of the corner a bit or by keeping the throttle on while breaking into the corner. Both weird concepts I have trouble mastering. It's kind of a patting your head while rubbing your belly thing.
They don't call it "the Cow" for nuthin'. 8-)
If you want to push your cow hard (ride your R65 fast) then you need to talk to this guy. Nate Kern. He will tell you how.
http://nate-kern.blogspot.com/
I wonder if I can get him to start a thread where you guys could ask questions??? Hmmmmm. Anybody interested?
