Title: Going to pay homage
Post by: Lucky_Lou on October 17, 2009, 03:06:10 PM
Taking the old girl up to Croft on Tees next weekend for a run out with some old pals hoping to visit the son of the bikes previous owner so he can see Ive looked after his late fathers bike...do you think he will recognise it??

<div style="width:480px; text-align: center;"><embed type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" src="http://w278.photobucket.com/pbwidget.swf?pbwurl=http://w278.photobucket.com/albums/kk113/luckyloudiamond/e136bacb.pbw" height="360" width="480"><a href="http://photobucket.com/slideshows" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn.gif" style="float:left;border-width: 0;" ></a><a href="http://s278.photobucket.com/albums/kk113/luckyloudiamond/?action=view&current=e136bacb.pbw" target="_blank"><img src="http://pic.photobucket.com/slideshows/btn_viewallimages.gif" style="float:left;border-width: 0;" ></a></div>

From there i will be going over to Helmsley via Pork chop or Roseberry Topping and back by Rosedale Abbey weather permitting this is a beautiful route at this time of the year though one of the more statistically dangerous routes for bikers, but hey beauty has a price will take some piccys so you guys can see some of Yorkshires best kept secrets.

Thats quite a transformation Lou. Very nice job indeed.

I think I prefer your choice of pinstripe colour over the original. Where did you get the "silver beige"  paint from ?

Lou, what can one say, stunning mate you have done a great job. The before pic was shocking to say the least, & then you turned it into a thing of beauty....

Lou, how long ago did you finish your bike & how long did it take you to rebuild her?

Cheers...

Thanks guys glad you like it, The paint codes are Glasurit BMW 548 for the Silver Beige or Champagne in the USA and BMW 111 for the pinstripe (Olive)  which should be the original paint codes for that year.
The job took about 10 months part time, i got it on the road in April of this year had a few teething problems to start with but once i had got to the bottom of the carb problems its been trouble free and ive done about 1000 miles of enjoyable riding since.

welcome to the club. Watch out, that kind of passtime can be very addictive.

A very nice result!

BTW The tiling in your drive is the same as I layed down in mine five years ago - nice!
