Photographic proof that two R65 dot.orgers showed our colors at the Oct 2-4, 2009 Lake O' the Pines Rally near Jefferson, Texas.
Monte Miller and Mike "Bengt" Crenshaw (l to r) shown just after a few cervezas and a hearty Mexican dinner.
More photos will follow.
Who needs the flag? PM me and I'll send it out. Monte

Looking good, guys!
Don't forget to sign the flag.

Looks like a bit more than 'few' cervezas !!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Now Bob, it may have been the hearty Mexican dinner; those can get me red-faced, if properly prepared.
We're supposed to sign the flag? I don't think there's room on it for everybody's names, is there?
-
Yes, you're supposed to sign the flag! The whole big crowd of two... ;) You can even let Justin sign the flag - he might not have attended this particular event, but ya'll have done plenty of other gatherings with the 3 of you. Want to get those R65er names on there!
-
Yes, we signed the flag. As for the red faces, don't blame it on the cerveza since all they had was training beer (Monte Light). We were however outside in the sunshine for most of the day so I'm sure that's where the color came from.
Good idea to get Justin to sign while it's in the vicinity. Hey Monte, I'm off to Barber's Vintage Days this weekend, maybe you can run down to Justin's place to get him to sign. Oh yes, take him a bag of sand while your at it. ;D

Photos of some beautiful vintage bikes seen at the Lake O' the Pines Rally have been uploaded to the Coppermine Gallery. More to follow as time permits. Click on montmil album.

At least I already have my room at the B&B in Jefferson for NEXT year's LoP rally... My credit for this year's cancellation is good for 6 months, and for a small fee they'll probably carry for a few more... :)
-
So, Burt... When are you scheduled for your back procedure?
Monte
-
Surgery's scheduled for Dec. 8th... I'll be in the hospital for 3-4 days. Meanwhile, the R65 is in rehab this week, at Boxers by Bruce. I may even get it back by this weekend (and though standing and walking is a problem, riding is not)! Now to check the forecast...

...the R65 is in rehab this week, at Boxers by Bruce...
So what's wrong with your 65? Whatever it is, Bruce will heal it up.
Monte
-
Bruce is giving it a general 'geriatric workup'... Full tuneup and timing chain check, as well as brake switch, etc. I just wanted The Man to surprise-proof it before I really took it out on the highway-- I'm not up to walking home! Think I told you that he immediately noticed a number of mismatched components, including a drive shaft from (I think he said) a /6!
-
Wow, I hope you don't have a long wheel base R65!
-
Burt, feel free to drop by the house if you pick up your highly modified 65 on Saturday. I'll show you my new guys.
-
... I'll show you my new guys.
Bengt, What new guys? You holding out on us? Monte

Well, I hadn't said anything specifically other than mention that my stepson Doug and I went to the Barber's Vintage Days last weekend. I had arranged to purchase a '74 Yamaha TY250 trials to knock around in the dirt with. It's all there and runs just fine, just needs a shampoo set and a curl. But, and here's where I went over to the Dark Side, I came across this really cool little Triumph TR25W. Never had played with a trumpet before so I brought it home too. Haven't taken any snaps yet since I don't have much success posting to the sight. It's all there too and pretty clean, runs well, but I need to strip it down and clean up all of the electrical connections. What can I say, I needed a winter project!

Mike said he was planning on "thinning his herd" so he goes out and buys two more motorcycles! Gotta love a guy with that sorta mindset. [smiley=thumbup.gif] Allow me to save "the collector" the hassle of figuring out his photo post skills... Monte
The YammerHammer TY250 Trials photo came off the Barber site... this could be MIke's off-roader.

And, OMG! My brother and I shared a Triumph Tiger Cub back in the day. Here's a file photo of a TR250 Turnip similar to Mike's purchase. I'd like to go on record and claim right of first refusal when he wants to "thin" the Triumph. Not likely anytime soon. Nice scores, Bengt. I hate you. [smiley=beer.gif]

Love you too Monte, I know how you must feel. The trumpet is candy apple red. You know it might actually make a decent four stroke twin shock trials bike for you....
And yes, I am still thinning the herd - the GS is going up for sale in the not too distant future. Has your wife been shoe shopping lately? ;D
-
You talkin' about the Imelda Marcos of Denton, Texas? Yeah, she does dig shoe shopping.
I showed her pics of your scores and she thought ya done good. I need to get that girl on a smaller, off road bike. Good place to learn as the trees don't swerve into your lane.
