Title: Return to Shiloh Rally - October 2/4 Pickwick Dam

I’m planning on making it to the BMW Riders Association of the Mid-South Return to Shiloh Rally on October 2-4, 2009, at Pickwick Dam, Tennessee on my ’84 R65.

I expect to travel with two buddies.  One has a R1100RT the other has a K-bike USS Enterprise thing.  We’ll probably do a cross-country route, so while I’ll be the poor relation when it comes to power, endurance and comfort, I should be able to hold my own.  At  300 miles or so each way, it’s about as far as I can imagine going anywhere on my R65.

Is this the Shiloh associated with the civil war?? if so i shall be there in spirit

Mark, you should be able to keep up just fine.  The R65 is capable of any posted speed limit that I'm aware of.  The RAMS are a great bunch of guys.  Be sure to visit the "Botel".  I won't be making it this year as I plan on going to the Lake of the Pines vintage rally that weekend.

Lou, that's the same location although the Pickwick Dam is about 15 or 20 miles up the Tennessee River from the actual National Park.  I was able to go last year on my R100GS.  In fact, I have named the GS "The General" after the CSA General Albert Sydney Johnston.  They both died at the battle field site.  Long story and I hope to tell you over a Guiness sometime if you will ever get your manky limey tookus over this way. 8-)

Just a nudge to say I'll be heading out of Atlanta early this Friday for the Return to Shiloh Rally.  Expect to be there mid afternoon.  Returning Sunday.  Let me know if anyone else will be around to share notes etc.  Mark

Back from Pickwick Dam.  796 miles total - there, touring and back.  R65 never missed a beat.  More later.
